Make your favorite cake pop recipe.
Before dipping the cake pops, it's essential to plan out how many you'll need and the colors required for each batch. This preparation ensures a smoother decorating process. Once you've formed the cake dough into balls, it's time to melt down 1/2lb of dark chocolate candy coating. Use 30-second intervals in the microwave, stirring in between, until the coating is smooth. Add black oil-based candy color gradually until the desired shade is achieved. If the coating becomes too thick, incorporate some paramount crystals to achieve the right consistency.
With the melted chocolate coating ready, use a toothpick to dip the calculated number of cake balls into the mixture. Shake off any excess coating, then stand the cake pop sticks upright into a styrofoam block to allow them to set properly. For a shiny finish, spray the cake pops with PME Clear Edible Spray Glaze.
Repeat the dipping process with 1/2lb of white candy coating, adding lime oil-based candy color and paramount crystals to achieve the desired green hue. Similarly, repeat with purple oil-based candy color for the purple cake balls. Once dipped and excess coating is removed, spray the green cake balls with green diamond dust for added sparkle.
To assemble the tower, start by building the bottom layer of cake pops. Press the toothpick end of each cake pop into a styrofoam cone, gradually working your way up to the top.
Prepare black buttercream by adding black gel food color to chocolate buttercream until the desired pigment is reached. Transfer the black buttercream to a piping bag fitted with a star #16 tip.
Once all the cake pops are attached to the tower, use the black buttercream to glue the base of the tower to a cake drum. Then, pipe stars and rosettes in the gaps between the cake pops. Allow the buttercream to crust before proceeding.
Using black royal icing, attach candy bones to the purple cake pops and royal icing eyes to the black cake pops. For the green cake pops, hand-pipe 1-2 tiny spiders onto each using the black royal icing. Start by piping the body, then add the legs for a spooky touch.
For the spider's web decoration, melt down mini marshmallows in the microwave using 20-second intervals until they become puffy. Stir gently to deflate the marshmallows slightly. With gloved hands, take small amounts of the marshmallow mixture and stretch it around the tower at different angles to create a realistic-looking spider web effect.
Finally, give the Creepy Cake Pop Tower an extra enchanting touch by spraying it with jewel dust, adding a shimmering finish to your spooky masterpiece!
