Instructions
Cut a Rice Krispie Treat Sheet into small rectangles, making sure they are larger than the round cookie cutter you will be using in the next step. Place the rice krispie treats onto a cookie sheet lined with parchment paper.
Cut the centers out of each rice krispie treat rectangle. We used a 2" round cookie cutter.
You should now be left with a 2" round piece of the rice krispie treat. Cut this piece in half & press one half back into the rectangle.
Repeat this step until all of your rice krispie rectangles are completed & have round cavities.
Place white candy melts in a microwave safe bowl.
Melt the chocolate using 20 second intervals, stirring in between to ensure the chocolate melts evenly and doesn’t scorch. Continue melting until the chocolate is fluid.
Transfer some of the melted chocolate into a tipless bag.
Add a small amount of Teal Colour Mill to the remaining melted chocolate & stir to combine. Transfer the light blue chocolate to a tipless bag.
Cut the tip off of each tipless bag.
Squeeze the melted chocolate into each of the cavities on the rice krispie treats.
Tap the cookie sheet on the counter to help smooth & settle the chocolate.
Transfer the rice krispie treats to the freezer for 15 minutes to completely set the chocolate.
Once the chocolate has set up completely, use Poppy Paint to add details onto the chocolate.
Pour black Poppy Paint onto a paint tray lined with plastic wrap for easy clean-up. Use a small paint brush since the surface area you are painting on is small.
To make Jack Skellington, the first step is to outline the eyes using the black Poppy Paint.
Once the outline is completed, fill in the eyes completely.
Next, carefully paint a curved line to create the base shape for his smile.
Create a bit of dimension by adding a bit more black paint to the center of the smile & add two dots for the nose.
The last step is to add stitches to the smile.
Allow the paint to fully dry before eating!
To make Sally Skellington, the first step is to outline the eyes using white Poppy Paint.
Once the outline is completed, fill in the eyes completely. The white paint may take up to 3 coats.
Next, use red Poppy Paint to add the hair & lips.
Then, use black Poppy Paint to paint on the smile & outline the hair.
Continue using black Poppy Paint to outline the eyes.
Just like on Jack, add stitches to the smile.
The last step is to add a dot for the nose, 2 dots for the pupils & eye lashes!
Allow the paint to fully dry before eating.
IMPORTANT NOTE
When working with Poppy Paint, it is important to know how to clean your brushes.
In between colors or when washing, make sure to remove paint from the brush by swirling around in a cup of high-grain alcohol, such as Everclear. Once the paint is removed, wash the brush in warm soapy water.
