Instructions
Prepare three batches of buttercream in patriotic colors:
Navy Buttercream with tip #866
Electric Blue Buttercream with tip #1M
White Buttercream with tip #104
Mold the Chocolate Decorations:
Melt red candy coating in the microwave using 30-second intervals, stirring between each interval until melted.
Place the melted chocolate in a tipless piping bag.
Fill the cavities of a mini bar mold, tapping it on the work surface to release any air bubbles.
To create a marbled effect, melt some white candy coating and layer it with oil-based color in a tipless piping bag. Use a toothpick to marble the chocolate between layers.
Repeat the marbling process as desired.
Place the mold in the refrigerator for 10-15 minutes to set.
Crumb Coat and Final Frost Your Cake:
Apply a thin crumb coat of buttercream to your favorite cake and then finish with a final layer of frosting.
Add Splatter to the Cake:
Mix grain alcohol with edible silver luster dust to create a thin paint.
Using a brush, flick the paint all over the frosted cake to create a splatter effect.
Decorate with Chocolate Decorations:
Remove the chocolates from the mini bar mold and place them on a piece of parchment.
Spray them with edible jewel dust to add a touch of sparkle.
Finish the Cake:
Pipe random rosettes and stars in electric blue buttercream, cascading down the side of the cake.
Repeat the piping process with navy blue buttercream.
Use white buttercream to pipe ribbons in the empty spaces between the rosettes and stars.
Keep piping until you're satisfied with the cascade of buttercream.
Randomly place the mini chocolate bars in the piped buttercream.
Decorate with red and blue pearls, as well as silver dragee rods, for added flair.
Finally, give the cake a final spray of edible jewel dust for an extra touch of elegance.
