Instructions
Prepare Cookies:
Begin by making your favorite sugar cookie dough. Roll out the dough and use a 4 ½" round cookie cutter to create cookies. Bake until golden, then allow them to cool completely.
Prepare Fondant Base:
Roll out light blue fondant to an even thickness using pastry rulers. Cut out fondant circles using the same cookie cutter as the cookies. Attach the fondant to the cooled cookies using a small amount of piping gel.
Airbrush Detailing:
Using a mermaid scales stencil and Pearl Sheen AmeriMist™ Air Brush Food Color, airbrush the fondant-covered cookies. Allow them to dry completely.
Decorative Frames:
Color some fondant with warm brown food gel. Roll it out and use Isabella frame cutters to create decorative frames. Freehand the names of the wedding couple onto the frames using bright white soft gel paste food color and a paintbrush. Let dry.
Add Sanding Sugar:
Outline the edges of the frames with piping gel and cover them with white sanding sugar. Place the completed frames atop the mermaid scale fondant on the cookies.
Seashell Accents:
Create fondant seashells using a silicone mold. Brush them lightly with petal dust for a realistic effect. Attach the fondant seashells to the cookies using piping gel to complete the beach-themed decoration.
