Instructions

Prepare the Flamingo Floaties
Color the Fondant:
Color some fondant with pink food color gel until evenly tinted.
Form the Floatie Rings:
Roll a small log of pink fondant into a skinny snake shape.
Form it into a ring and trim to your desired size.
Use a small amount of water to connect the ends and set aside to dry.
Create the Flamingo Head and Neck:
Roll another piece of pink fondant into a skinny snake shape.
Taper one end and trim, flatten, and elongate the other end.
Paint some water on the flat section, place the ring on top, and wrap the fondant around the ring to attach it.
Fold the tapered end down to form the flamingo's head and shape the neck.
Adjust the head and neck to the correct position and let it dry.
Make the Wings:
Roll out more pink fondant to a ¼ inch thickness.
Cut out small teardrop shapes using accent cutters.
Create texture on the wings with a fondant tool.
Attach the wings to the floatie using a brush and water, then set aside to dry for several hours.
Paint the Details:
Once the fondant is dry, paint on eyes and a beak using edible black paint.
Decorate the Cupcakes
Prepare the Buttercream:
Color white buttercream with turquoise food color gel.
Smooth a thin layer of turquoise buttercream onto the cupcakes.
Pipe the Pool:
Fill a piping bag fitted with tip #805 with turquoise buttercream.
Pipe a ring of buttercream around the outer edge of the cupcake.
Pipe a second ring directly on top of the first. Repeat for all cupcakes.
Prepare the Gelatin:
Fill a bowl with cold water and add gelatin sheets, holding them under water until they soften (about 3 minutes).
Gently squeeze excess water from the gelatin sheets and place in a liquid measuring cup.
Microwave the softened gelatin for 20-40 seconds until melted.
Add 1-2 drops of blue food color and stir well.
Let the gelatin cool to avoid melting the buttercream.
Fill the Cupcakes:
Fill the pool on each cupcake about ? full with the cooled gelatin.
Let it set up for 20-30 minutes.
Finish with the Flamingo Floaties:
Place the prepared flamingo floatie in the pool of each cupcake.

Blue buttercream piped on a cupcake to resemble a round pool. Filled with blue gelatin for water and topped with a fondant made pink flamingo floaty
