Instructions

He Is Risen Cookie
Outline and Flood Consistency Icing:
Outline the cookie with white flood consistency icing and allow it to set for at least 5 minutes.
Cut a larger hole in the icing bag, flood the cookie space, and use a scribe tool to smooth the icing over the outline.
Allow the cookies to dry for 30-40 minutes at room temperature or 10-15 minutes in a food dehydrator.
Lettering:
Use medium consistency or soft peak black icing for lettering. Cut a small hole in the bag or use a #1 or #1.5 piping tip.
Pipe the letters, adding lines on down strokes for thickness. Use a scribe tool to smooth thicker sections immediately.
Work quickly, and ensure the base icing is not completely dry to avoid cratering.
Greenery:
Pipe the stem with green medium consistency icing, then cut a larger hole for the leaves.
Create leaves by piping an outline and filling in immediately or using heavy pressure for a one-motion leaf.
Use a scribe tool to smooth icing, reshape leaves if needed, and eliminate sharp points.
Decorating the Cross:
Outline with brown flood consistency icing using a small hole in the tipless piping bag.
For Wood Grain Method 1: Paint brown food gel color along a seam in the piping bag, fill with brown flood consistency icing. Pipe zig zags, starting on the side or the top of the cross, to add knots in the wood, pipe a line with a circle and continue on with the line. Use a scribe tool to move icing over the outline. Let cookies set.
For Wood Grain Method 2: Flood the cross with brown icing. Let dry for 30-40 minutes. Paint vertical or horizontal lines with brown gel food color, feather edges with a damp brush.
Final Touches:
Pipe greenery on the cross using the same method as before.
Allow icing to dry completely overnight or 10-15 minutes in a dehydrator, followed by several hours at room temperature.
Spray with white edible glitter if desired.
Package in cellophane bags for freshness up to 3 weeks or store in an airtight container.
